Auld Ang Syne, is that right?

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man.....vol.50
"Reality is like a face reflected in the blade of a knife; it's properties depend on the angle from which we view it." Master Hsing Yun "Describing the Indescribable"
The main headline of the day or in the dawning of the sun to another day of only 6 hours of electricity if you're in Baghdad, is that the once gloriously brutal sword swash buckling dictator is now dead. No not George W., I can't be that lucky. Are you getting this secret service. You know where I live. No, I'm talking about the death sentence where the executioners are just as guilty as the executed.  The dictator that did serve in a war, unlike every single member of our current administration. But let me not quivvel on facts. Yes, Saddam Hussein, our good friend from the 80's when we were backing his army in their 10year war against Iran. Oh, how the times had changed for the once photographed smiling and shaking hands with our former Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, who should have been up there on the gallows along with good ole' Saddam. But what are you gonna do, except stay the course, push on because it's hard work and not take the advice of the Iraq Study Group, not one of the 79 recommendations. Not one. But I'll listen to what they have to say.  Ask yourselves, and we don't have a fascist dictatorship in full swing? Please.
People, we are a country where we pride ourselves on the glories and attributes of freedom and democracy and lifting up the poor and hungry masses, but don't life a finger for the now already 400,000 dead in Darfur. But why lift a finger? The ones who are dying are Muslim. They're all terrorists anyhow. Let them die. There is no oil reserves over there for us anyway. Let them die and then we can move in and take all of their abundant natural resources which they must be sitting on. Oh, sorry, that's the entire continent of Africa. But really, we want to give you peace and liberty and democracy for all men, women and children. Freedom is each person's God given right. We must spread that throughout the world, but only if we profit from it.
Now open up and say ahhhhh. How about some nice yummy, genetically engineered all natural, except for the fact that it's cloned, food. Safe to eat. Yummy yummy yummy. The FDA says its fine. Trust them. I don't. And they don't even have to put labels on it. Nice. But you can't smoke a joint. Nice. But you can pop a pill for your restless legs. What the f!!!! is going on people.
First it was the pets, now it's the food. Next it's gonna be you. Think about it.
Then again, think about a Casino in Vegas, catered only to men, where you have nothing but clones of Jessica Simpson and Angelina Jolie's as waitresses and hostesses and madams. That's not so bad is it? Ladies, wouldn't you want your own Brad Pitt or Doctor Mcdreamy.
Think about it. Like kids on the backs of milk cartons. The chips are coming.
And we aren't playing God? If you believe in that sort of thing. Or it's just science. Science is good. Science never harmed a soul.
How could it, because souls and science cannot co-exist, or can they? Mull on that one while your getting ready for American Idol.
Now for something on the lighter side of life.
As warned at the end of my last outrages, which have seen a jolt of caffeine as of late.  I have fell under the spell of a musical russian nymph who was relocated to New York City. Her name is Regina Spektor. You may have seen her video on VH1. That other channel that still plays videos. Ladies and gentlemen, she is charming like a young Natalie Portman in the film Beautiful Girls, where you could tell that she was going to be a star.  Regina's ability for swinging through the pitch and the tempo with her quirky anecdotes and em-phasis placed on certain syllables, make her a gypsy of the 21st Century. Like a much more friendlier version of Fiona Apple, listen and you'll be hooked.
Finally, quality Television has hit another all time high. But this time it has come from an unexpected candidate. The Lifetime channel. Who now brings us yet another Reality T.V. Game show, "Gay, Straight or Taken" which female contestants now get to take a stab as to which good looking guy is etc., you get the deal. It is sure to be a hit. Nothing but informative television for the women. The equal rights movement has come a long way hasn't it? Whether it be Oprah telling you what to buy or the latest fashion magazine placing the importance on what Nicole Richie has or hasn't been eating. Always look your best ladies. Just don't think it.
You may be wondering where that came from. I don't know either. But like my Dog Rufus always says, "Deal with it."
Happy New Year. 2007 and where are the flying cars?

As random and similar as snowflakes

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man......vol.49
Merry X-mas and Happy New Year to everyone.  It is the time of the year for evenings spent with family in front of a fire or the languid light of our created existence, the television. It is the wailing of George Bailey through the streets of Bedford Falls in the rhythm of cheering Merry X-mas! and good will to all mankind. It is only unfortunate that it doesn't last all year long. Let's work together to change that.
To slap you in the face. I would hazard to guess that you do not or did not realize that our president signed the Torture Act on 10/17/06. Giving the President the right to do whatever, to whoever, whenever, for however long he or she would deem necessary. Perfect for a dictator or the anti-christ. And we aren't becoming a Fascist State?

I hope that more people will wake up to the lies that they have been told and shown over and over again concerning that awful day on September 11th, 2001. The day that has been used to engage in a never ending war. A war where the enemy is ourselves and our freedoms. Where we have handed over the powers of a dictator to our president and future presidents hereafter. It is not George W. Bush I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of the next president that comes along, who will more than likely be smarter than the current one. And grin at the chance to truly use the power that has been given. I leave you today with my jaw still dropped onto the floor at the awe-inspiring performance of Damien Rice at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on Wednesday evening the 20th of December, which quite simply propelled myself and hopefully everyone else that was present that night into asking, why isn't he more popular and why don't we hear more of him on the radio?  And who the hell does James Blunt think he is? "You're Beautiful" is a good song, but I am sorry to say, James, you are nothing more than a 1st grader compared to the bursting at the seams, standing ovation talent of Mr. Rice. Ladies and Gentlemen, He is the Elephant in the room. Please come and join the safari.
Next time......I am gushing over Regina Specktor. And check out Devotchka and thanks again Troy for Alexi Murdoch. If we must be forced to live in the current atmosphere of naiveté' and ignorance, then let our music be a release for our souls.

It's about time

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man........vol.48
"All who would win joy, must share it; happiness was born a twin." Lord Byron
"The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind." Dr. Wayne Dyer
Yes it is. It is about time. For I have discovered some glimmering shades of light through the dark fallen leaves at the end of the tunnel. I have discovered for myself, long after a silent majority of young and middle aged people throughout the world have already embraced. I do not argue with the fact that I am slow to come around to change when it comes to technology. I still have a stereo receiver from the year 1981, with the knob dial and the sliding horizontally bar through station to station, searching for WKRP. You may call me Dr. Johnny Fever. It took me until the year 2004 to get a cell phone. And now as some of you know, I am addicted to text messaging. Whether it be in a busy crowded line at a Subway restaurant during the lunch hour rush or inside a elevator with strangers. It gives me a reason not to confront what appears to me to be the growing rage within our modern day society. Typically the boiling over anger at anything that takes time. But, for those of you losing patience, let me get straight to the point. Last night I finally mady my maiden voyage onto the landscape that is YouTube, and I will tell you that it has me thinking things over as to how we can embrace and embolden technology for the better. First of all, it is free. The best word in the english lexicon. Free. People, for instance, I had been searching for an audio version of Fiona Apple's performance of Elvis Costello's "I Want You", ever since I layed eyes and opened my ears to it this summer on VH1, and after scanning the web and the record shops, stumbled upon it on YouTube last night. And from there, pandora's box was swung wide open. Kinda like what Randy Moss used to be for the Vikings. But I digress.
From there, it became anything and everything. Type it in and wham. There it is. An old recording of Van Morrison or Dylan or Tom Waits. Amazing. Things that were once hard to find are now at our fingertips. Truly amazing. You name it and it is there for the taking. Kinda like US Foreign Policy. Now I know how people can spend hours and hours searching throughout the night only to find themselves with little sleep but a glazed over look of happiness the next morning. Kinda like sex without the protection. Good morning, I think I'll go have a cigarette.

The USS Eisenhower is sailing towards Iran and ready to strike. Israel look out. The USS Eisenhower is loaded for bear and possibly ready to fire some missiles that could lead inevitably to the collapse of our economy,  and we would then be forced to pay triple the price for gasoline. Chaos in the streets all over the world, and men, women and children, black and white, Christian, Jew and Muslim; all would be held hostage to the realization that life as you know it would cease to exist. Armageddon. Brother against Brother. Man against man. Would you stop to help your neighbor? Would you be able to afford to pay $8/gallon for gas??? You would have to pay for it, and cut the fat off of all of the other deemed useless expenditures. Capitalism as we know it would collapse. The world market would collapse. Money would be worthless. No one would be able to buy the stuff that you don't need. It's crazy I know. But it could definitely happen. How's that for a October Surprise? George W forever.
And what about our current arms race that looks to destabilize the far east with crazy man big hair Kim Jong Il crying for attention by testing nukes. He pays himself a salary close to a million dollars a year sipping champagne while his people starve to death. Nice guy. And why again did we go after Saddam??? Oh yeah, merciless dictator that killed his own people and had weapons of mass destruction. Couldn't imagine floods of South Koreans and Chinese making their way into North Korea and putting together an insurgency? Or maybe they would? But an attack on Iran would definitely get peoples attentions away from a certain former congressman in Florida and a botched war in the middle east that even the generals of the UK believe we can't win. Thanks for the advice Mr. Kissinger, you did such a bang up job with Vietnam, tell us more strategies to win.  Sacrifice, Sacrifice, Sacrifice, Sacrifice? And the world powers aren't hedonistic satanists lapping up the blood of the innocent? No, that's the liberal media.  That would be absurd. A secret society group of old men controlling the world. They just want what is the natural born right of every man, woman and child, they want everything all the time. It's only human nature to consume, consume, consume. Or is it? Shouldn't we all be farmers? Just bartering and trading what we create, subsisting off of the land? Where did we go wrong or is this all part of the plan? I believe that this is all happening the way it's supposed to happen, but maybe just maybe, the Bible is nothing more than a self fulfilling prophecy? Because, why is the worship of nature considered so abominable? Can it be that there is then no man made hierarchy of control? No top down control. No few controlling the many. Sorry people, with the Vikings having the weekend off, I have a little more free time on my hands and I just had to get that off of my paganistic chest because I'm told I can't read a horoscope or consult the stars. Or I will burn baby burn for all eternity, but God loves me. One final thought, when is the last time you saw an army of Buddhist Monks invade a country under the guise of spreading Democracy or testing nuclear weapons? Those crazy monks sitting up there in their mountain enclaves. What do they know? Nothing. Don't even own a T.V.

"Think for yourself and let others enjoy the privilege of doing so too." Voltaire
"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." Martin Luther King Jr.
Good morning, good afternoon and good evening to all of you on this absolutely golden beautiful first day of October where the trees seem to be bursting into an open fire. I may ask you, can you taste the warm apple cider? Can you hear the kids as they drag their feet through the piles of curbside leaves? Can you witness the young boys eyeing the prizes of waiting to be smashed pumpkins atop of the steps of suburban houses? Oh, to trick or treat our way through life would be utmost bliss.  What would be better?
Now, back to things of a more serious if less than realistic more like a surrealistic movement in nature week of events. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, the spectacle that has become the United Nations! Can anyone remember a more lunatic fringe cast of characters addressing the world as if they had all the answers? Please people, I can already see you rolling your eyes, and muttering to yourselves, but Mr. Scharber you seem to be doing that to us every two weeks or so? Ha Ha Ha, it is true that I do love a good pulpit. But seriously, what can we do, but other than sit back and silently protest the loss of our civil liberties from the comfort of our recliners while following our progress in Fantasy Football? What truly matters?
The United Nations brought us back to back days of trash talking, the kind reminiscent of a pre-boxing match weigh in, with the likes of Jew-hating Holocaust Denying Disco-Leisure Suit wearing Iranian President spokesman for the Mullahs, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who if anyone knows me, has to admit, I love the jacket, and then there was our always right and never wrong George W. cowboy President for the Oil-Millionaires "My Pet Goat" reading as planes crashed into the twin towers, never rushed to safety while the nation was under attack silve spoon fed leader of the free world, and last but not least the almost as crazy as I am, put in power by the same United States secret CIA government he so crudely despises, and his sulphur insinuating remarks about our sitting president, and no, not Cheney, left leaning, Castro Citgo Gas man, Hugo Chavez. This band of brothers, made one think that the Ringling Brothers of Barnum and Bailey had purchased the rights to the United Nations and was about to set up the big tents and start charging admission for the freak show. Come watch the leaders of the world eat fire!!! It was something even Fellini couldn't have possibly imagined or William S. Burroughs in the heights and depths of a heroin daze could have concocted while dreaming of a rendezvous with Allen Ginsberg or Kerouac in Tangiers. The hate spewing of Ahmadinejad and the hilarity of Chavez and the dead pan of George W., all in a week before his administration releases the report that apparently all 16 intelligence agencies of the United States weighed in with their opinions that the war in Iraq has only emboldened the terrorists worldwide and their hatred for the United States has grown ten fold like the opium production in Afghanistan under our occupation.  Nice. Of course they are wrong according to our guided by God President, but this is not a Holy War. People, this is not a Holy War between Christianity and Islam. This is not a modern Crusades. That's crazy, just pay your credit card's minimum balance and don't fret the housing market and the growing number of foreclosures. The Pope doesn't make disparaging remarks about Islam on purpose,  because he never thought that anyone may be offended by them. Why would anyone be offended by calling Mohammed a murderer. That's just outrageously crazy to think that anyone would have a problem with that. It's not like a simple cartoon, come on. But on the other hand, I do ask myself,  why is it okay for the whore of Babylon, Madonna, justifying her love, to crucify herself on stage as part of a performance, and that is fine, as it should be, for it should not be banned but criticized, but for a performance of Mozart in Berlin to have Mohammed criticized, that should be banned? It's okay to criticize Christianity but not Islam? Criticize all. If you can't take it, your faith just isn't strong enough maybe? Then again, this is just one man's opinion. You have to think for yourselves. Have a great day, a wonderful evening and remember, that we must remain ever vigilant. We are at war here. We are at war with ourselves. Isn't that terrifying enough?

We must remain ever vigilant

I have a question for everyone out there today. Did anyone other than myself get to see the great song and dance that our Vice President, The Count, albeit an evil one from Sesame Street, Dick Cheney put on last Sunday morning on Meet the Press with Tim Russert? The smirk, the dodging of questions, Iraq & Iran, and the classics' "staying the course" means "eliminating Al-Qaeda in Iraq" which he did admit had nothing to do with Iraq before we invaded, forgetting to mentinon that after they presented the idea that they did, nice, and you would have to admit that we are better off today than dealing with a government that is pursuing weapons of mass destruction, wouldn't you? and no, I'm not talking about the United States, because we would never do such a thing, oh that little thing in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, that had to be done, the Japanese would've taken over the world, they are quite resilient and Tim Russert asking "Where is the buffer zone with Iran?" and you could almost sense the little pool of blood that was forming and dripping from his lower lip onto the table as he was thinking, grinning to himself, how nice it would be to invade Iran and create more chaos and misery for those America hating Muslims. Ohhhh to think of it. How nice it all would be. Bliss I tell ya Georgie Boy, pure neo-con Bliss.....and all that oil too, lapping it up. Delicious. The world will definitely hate us then. Oh and the gas prices, through the roof. You think BP Amoco and Exxon Mobil are making money now, you just wait I tell ya. Like taking candy from a baby, or putting a TV in front of an American, hell I'm guilty of that one. And, you can bet, when good ol' Georgie boy goes in front of the UN on September 19th, he'll be trumpeting the card of having to take out Iran, ala Iraq style.
But don't forget 9/11, we must never forget 9/11, remember, we are 9/11.
Yes, folks that day of infamy. 9/11, the day that has ushered in an Orwellian way of life has come and gone and now has become a money making tool for movie producers, a campaign to ever enforce and echo the never ending war on terrorism, and finally, a tool for how the Republicans and the Democrats utilize the deaths of 3,000 innocent Americans. Isn't that what we should be concerned about? Not catching Bin Laden, who is more likely a CIA operative, not port security or border security or the loss of civil liberties at every turn in the road, and not being held in a secret prison for any amount of time deemed necessary by the federal government without being charged or being allowed to speak to an attorney and the ever looming threat of non-military weapons being used for domestic crowd control endorsed by the head of the Air Force and the re-defining of what should or should not be considered torture by this administration and being told to live in constant fear, but simply how can we best use the tragedy of 9/11 to get elected or re-elected in November, that's important.

I come to you today, ladies and gentleman, friends and relatives, neighbors and far off distant strangers, with greetings of labor. I come to you with awe filled visions of transient wonders. I have seen the blessings that have been bestowed upon the planet of six and half billion and how wonderful it is to know that in a planet as over populated as this, two souls can find one another and achieve lasting happiness. I have walked in the fields of green under shady trees blessed by the sun that weave and spire unto open skies of blue under the summer of September. I have thanked the crows atop the wire and the chipmunks asunder the falling leaves. I find that with each passing breath and moment, the everlasting beauty to which we should all be thankful for and yet find that we do not know that we are witnesses every day to the gift of something so lucky, so far reaching and ever expanding as our changing universe, the miracle that life truly is. I hope that this finds each and everyone of you with a day of rest within you and a smile of happiness upon you.

A terrorist plot has been foiled in the UK and Pakistan. That is definitely good news to hear. The war on terror must be won on all fronts. The campaign of fear must never subside. We need our government's protection, now more than ever. They know what we need better than we do.  They are all knowing, all wise. Like our friend the Television. You can trust whatever they have to say. They would never lie to you. Ever. But don't worry that those 19 arrested in the newest terror plot have not even been charged with anything. Don't question that. The government knew exactly what they were planning to do, but cannot charge them with anything. Makes a whole lot of sense. They had an abnormally large amount of cell phones and no passports. They had some liquid ingredients for explosives, but no explosives, and someone made a cell phone call to someone in Pakistan stating that it was time to go. Maybe they were selling cell phones illegally, and maybe they were not expert travellers, and maybe that person was asking if it was time to fly to Pakistan for holiday, no one knows, except the major media jumped on this story so fast you would have assumed that they were going to blow up the 10 planes headed to the US from the UK in minutes. But, as you may already know by now, the UK has yet to charge anyone with anything yet. But, I would be foolish to not assume that they are guilty as hell and not innocent till proven guilty. Because the last thing I would want it the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud. We know better than you. Be afraid people, be very afraid, all of the time.
Ladies and gentelmen, our neighbors to the south, those that are there legally, may be slip sliding away into a civil war of their own, something the Iraqi people are getting to know quite well. Left-leaning anti-American presdiential candidate, and friend of America's sworn enemy, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has his followers demanding a recount into what was Mexico's version our 2000 Presdiential election, but the judges controlled by the powers that be and Coca-Cola muscle man and current President Vincente Fox most likely, are doing whatever they can to not let that happen, because it would endanger the success of NAFTA, and big business cannot have that, thus angering the displaced masses of the unfortunately poor and uneducated that feel quite possibly, as if they are being robbed of their electoral process and natural born right. Isn't that right President Bush. We all have a right to be free. Just as long as you are not a brown skin muslim and you better be pro-capitalism. Hopefully, Mexico will not turn into a modern day Iraq, which is going so well these days, I would sure hate to have to cut and run on such an overwhelming success.

Good evening to all of those recovering from the heat, standing in front of the freezer with the door open and thanking their lucky stars that the age old myth of global warming doesn't rear its ugly head once again. We would all like to thank our air conditioning units alot more after the past week wouldn't we. We found ourselves putting ice into everything. And people long ago never dared to do that to their coffee. Now Starbucks makes a fortune off of it. Oh, how the times have changed. Go figure.
Al Gore has become more popular than the internet that he created. Who would have thought. But, on a slightly different tangent but not altogether distant road, I, being the stereotypical stubborn German-Irishman found myself resisting once again the simplicity of shelling out a few extra dollars or putting in the time to install a "working" air conditioner into my apartment. So I vacationed at a hotel for a couple of nights. Put it on the card. Smart. Very smart. It's the American way. Only the temptation of a Marilyn from decades gone by could have convinced me to install one, because when you are single, you find yourself telling yourself, I can handle it, but knowing it would all change if there were someone there to tell you, hey, look it's been real, but I have had enough, I found someone with air, nice to meet ya.
I may be educated, but I am not brilliant, I never said that, on that I think we all agree.

And things are sure heating up aren't they people.  We had the U.N Secretary General Kofi Annan stating that Israel intentionally targeted a U.N. outpost, killing 2 U.N. "peacekeepers" (oxymoron-if I ever heard one when it comes to the sand duels of the middle east) helping to impose the prophesy of the Book of Revelations that states the nations of the world would turn against Israel. Israel then, doesn't help it's cause either by bombing a house in Lebanon, killing up to 30 children while they slept. Oh well, just some more collateral damage. Oooops! Just wait till Syria and Iran get into the mix, things will really be heating up won't they.
Any one for a blackout? Just go ask anyone in NYC.

"if were ever gonna survive, we gotta get alittle crazy." Seal
July 22nd, 2006......the eleventh day of the crisis between Hezbollah and Israel,  and Israel decides to send in ground troops into the southern portion of Lebanon. 11 days into the crisis, on the those in the know and a possible message to the powers that be throughout the indoctrinated, this comes as no simple coincidence. Remember that this whole crisis started just before the G-8 was meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia and the worlds financially savvy were meeting in the woods of northern California at Bohemian Grove. Or it may be just coincidence. But come on people, open up your eyes and listen to the pounding of bombs as you drive to your jobs in rush hour, cursing the traffic and the heat. This may be the beginning birth pangs of World War III.
Some of you may be rolling your eyes and shaking your heads, saying, "Here he goes again." But think about it, it may just be a matter of time before Syria decides to jump into the conflict, instead of hiding behind their financial ties to Hezbollah and may start firing rockets into Tel-Aviv or maybe Iran will use it as a chance to do what they have been hinting at for over the past couple of years, "to destroy the nation of Israel."  All of this happening while we in America feel the pain, like John Stewart stated on his Daily Show, "not in our hearts, not in our minds, but we feel it at the pump." We may have only seen the beginning of the gas price surge. Just imagine if Iran jumps in, the worlds 2nd leading exporter of oil gets involved. What do you think oil prices will do then? Do you think were going to negotiate with that leftist government of Venezuela? We may be begging for $80 a barrel. We may just see $125 or $150 dollars a barrel. Who is going to have the money to buy the latest I-Pod then? What will happen to the world's economy then? All of this may come to pass and who may be waiting in the wings. The religious radicals know, but dare not speaks his name. The one in the shadows, lingering by with answers yet to be revealed. Think, a world in chaos and in need of something or someone to show us the way, and ta-dah, here he comes to save the day.....just take the chip and everything will be alright. Not to worry. Just watch as I declare myself God on Earth at the steps of the Temple of the Mount in Jerusalem.
Come on Scharber, you can't be serious? Can I? Just watch and wait I say. Remember, December 22nd, 2012.
We don't have much time left. Do the math and mark the date on your calendars.
Ask yourselves, how did the Mayans know of every planet in the solar system a milennia before we did in the civilized world? Do the research. Look into it. You've been warned.
But how about those Twins and Vikings training camp begins in a week. Nice. Stuff that truly matters.
I may have taken a break, but I have not given up my far-fetched perspective and ideas.
Ya gotta love the leftys.
Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Where is DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince?? Play that classic anthem.

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man......vol.40
The official arrival of summer is only two days away. The time is coming when we will eagerly await the Taste of Minnesota and the difficulty of remembering where we had parked the car too many beers afterwards. It is the Basilica Block Party. It is the season of twenty-four hour severe thunderstorm warnings interrupting our mind numbing network television viewing. Summer means much longer waits on the first tee box. Corn dogs, county fairs, sunflower seeds and sno cones. Summer is the constant buzz of the ringing vibration of the afternoon's lament of the Blue Bell Ice Cream man serenading the children and the over prescribed reluctant adults. It is eating too many mini-donuts, missing too many or watching too many baseball games. The fight through crowds for over priced stuffed animal prizes won to impress possible first dates among the circus of the Freak-show midway.   It is Johnny Sweatback trips to the horsetrack. Summer is the season for sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair while one hand pats the family dog, while the other swats mosquitoes, grinning because the second sense is knowing that the State Fair will be here before we know it and the Twins are once again starting to become more competitive. It is a U.S Open where Lefty collapses due to questionable judgment and a Tiger is surprisingly missing among the green grass and over crowded galleries. It is the fortnight of tennis in London. So ring the bell, fire up the grill and grab some hot dog buns. Summer is upon us my friends, and to that I lift a tall glass of Country Time Lemonade. So do yourself a favor and find a nice tree, lay out on your back, and grab some shade.
Hope everyone has a summer worth remembering. Much love peace and happiness to you and yours.

Why We Fight?

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man........vol.38
"Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it." William Penn
Ladies and gentlemen, I come to you today with an announcement. I am going on a hiatus. That's correct, I am taking a leave for a short while and I do not know when I'll be back. Like all pilgrims, I must take a journey of my own.
I have come to the conclusion that I need to take a much needed rest from trying to stop the evils of society. I recognize that in most cases it is futile. Not much is going to stop the machine from continuing to roll down the course that it's on and certainly not the rants of an almost 30 year old with too much spare time on his hands.
"When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of the truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall, always." Mahatma Gandhi
I must focus my efforts and concentration on something more worthwhile, my blossoming work of fiction.
"Start by doing what is necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible." Saint Francis
So, I am laying down the gauntlet for now, with the hope that someone other than myself will pick it up and continue the fight for the interim. With that, I leave you to fight your own battles for yourselves and to educate yourselves on your own time.  Remember this, I may be taking a break, but I am certainly not giving up. I will be back.
"A man is what he is, not what he used to be." Yiddish Proverb

"The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Much love peace and happiness. So, until next time, keep your eyes open and continue to listen for the buzzing sound of the coming plague of locusts.

Hypocrite, yes I am. But at least I'm honest.

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man......vol.37
"Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength." Sigmund Freud
I come to you, ladies and gentlemen, from the hallowed halls and nurtured sanctuary of one of the last vestiges where our tax payer dollars are still being put to good use. I come to you from a public library once again, fighting for the deaf and dumb. Fighting for the ones who can't fight for themselves. I come to you because I care. I come to you with my head held high and my spirit lifted to the cause that we all may, one day see a world filled with reason and love, not war for oil. I come to you again, in our struggle to find peace and happiness in a world where cartoons can kill and threaten the very fabric of a religion. Where a faith so strong can be shaken by black ink on white pages. I come to you, where you're own President, a war-time president, claims that it is good National Security policy, to sell the security of 6 major U.S. Ports over to a company owned and operated by the United Arab Emirates.  A country, where two of the supposed 19 hijackers on 9/11 emanated from. Our same President, that said, if you "house terrorists or help them" you are a terrorist. I guess that when it comes to business, some things are better left forgotten and swept under the rug in order to get things done.  Kind of like the good people at Enron. I come to you in a world where a bird flu pandemic may be just around the corner, spreading like Paris Hilton at a Sundance Film Festival after party. I come to you today where civil war may be breaking out in Iraq like acne on a twelve year old after finding out that the another 8th grader in his or her class has just found out the rumour of the crush he or she has had on him or her for the past two and a half years has escaped the inner confines of a person most trusted to keep that secret has been let out like white collar criminals serving minimal sentences for siphoning off retirement pensions of those who truly need it.
I come to you today with a gut feeling that you all may be growing tired of my ranting and raving.  I have no qualms whatsoever about any of it, and can fully understand that feeling, if necessary, and hold no resentment.
I wish I could come to you more often each week, with a smile on my face and with news that is good. With the ever increasing knowledge that the technological  progress we are making as a society has been beyond anything we could have possibly imagined and will hold no ill effects. But, that's not me. That's not how I operate and I just have to accept that fact  and you must as well, and embrace those qualities that mark me different from so many others....but in the nightly news, so much more alike.  Then again, you may just wish to stop reading what I send you and you have every right to do so.
"Calling occupants of interplanetary craft."
I wish I could come to you each week and discuss the benefits of having cell phones attached to each and everyone's head, allowing more and more people to make calls while being stuck in traffic to and from their occupations for hours every week. Discussing what to make for dinner. Where to pick up the kids from at the mall, if they hadn't already have been abducted and had their pictures placed upon a carton of milk while you eat your morning cereal before you off to that dealt with pain you call a job or made to be the latest 24 hour tragedy to overtake the airwaves of our cable news networks.
I wish I could discuss the benefits of I-pods and not having to communicate with other people. To be able to download porn right to your cell phone, to attach those head phones and climb that stairmaster instead of being able to walk outside in your own neighborhood without the fear of being held up at gunpoint or maybe we just want to go to a crowded place to work out, to show each and everyone, that yes, we do care about our bodies and maybe would you like to get some dinner sometime, because I'm not happy with my situation at husband or my wife just doesn't understand me. I can see your eyes rolling. I know. I know. That's just me.
I wish I could come here each week and say, damn, society is pretty damn good. I don't think it can get any better than what we have right now. The oceans rising mean nothing to me. Social Security being gone when I need it most, doesn't bother me. I'll just invest in the stock market for my retirement. Because, markets never fluctuate. There can't be any harm in risking your retirement in the private sector can there? Green house gases don't bother my peace of mind.

I come here knowing that China one day will own our United States doesn't worry me in the least. I have no problem living with my ADD addled children. I just can't fill my head with enough $5 cafe lattes to stop my hands from shaking and sometimes when I'm in a crowd I long for a Columbine moment and that the screaming will just go away and that there will be enough prescription medicines for the ways that I feel, and will they leave me alone and move to the front of the line, shut up and pay their bills, move to the other lane, use their blinker, stop tailing me so closely, keep the noise down, turn up the heat, open a window, mow their lawn and for the love of all that is holy, stop making excuses and turn the channel.

Take a breath. Slow down. Relax.

Sorry sir.

Yes, I will get back to work, not a problem.

Just between you and me. I would love to start a revolution, but I just don't have the time. I have to pay off my credit card debt because as you know, the bills won't pay themselves.

Ciao. Adios. Goodbye.

Try to figure that one out.

In some small way, I'm trying.

Anyone want to go hunting with the VP? Now if Al Gore had shot a fellow hunting partner 7 years ago, do you think the Republicans would have an uproar? Isn't there usually a criminal investigation when someone is shot? I know that he probably didn't do it intentionally, so let's just give it a rest, right?
We impeached Clinton for a stained dress, what does Bush have to do to get us to wake up?
"A man is only as good as what he loves." Saul Bellow
This week's edition will be a short one. Giving you a break from my rants and raves. All I ask is some thinking on your part.
A good friend of mine, a staunch Republican at that, and some may find it hard to believe that I could be friends with such a character, made a fine point to me last early Sunday morning, asking as to why I should feel so Anti-American? Why do I hate this country so much? I briefly explained myself to him in some detail that I do not hate this country, I just find that we could be doing so much better. I do not hate anything or anyone. But, I do complain alot though. If you haven't figured that one out already. So, with that, I ask each and everyone of you, what has the Bush Administration done for you that you can truly feel thankful for, other than the always reminded fact that we haven't had a terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11? I would like to know, my fellow brothers and sisters, how you feel about the Bush Administration, and what they have done for you which you can feel so very thankful for. I am concerned. I would like your thoughts on the matter, so please, tell me how you feel.  I certainly tell you.

Now get back in line.
It's for your own good.

"The chimes of freedom crashing"

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man.......vol.35
Good afternoon felllow revolutionaries of the mind. I don't have much time, so I will begin.
Things are heating up in Iran. Hot damn. It's about to become another good ol' Mid-East BBq. Pass the hookah. Iran now has until March to comply with the UN Security Council or else we are going to be headed down the slippery slope towards a possible military strike against their nuclear program, which then just may start World War III. Because you have to know, China and Russia who have the most to lose if we do place economic sanctions upon Iran or strike militarily against them, will not sit back and watch quietly....and Iran, if you don't already know, is the 2nd largest developer of Oil for OPEC. That's right, gas prices will be on the rise once again this summer and as of last Monday, February 6th, Russia began warning against threatening Iran over its nuclear program. Things are heating up indeed. Pass the A-1.
Love is a fire that burns away everything and then is gone.
Like a sad song.
Where nothing but the smoke remains.
Now onto the crowning achievement of Capitalism. The Superbowl. Where commercials for Disneyworld and Jessica Simpson slinging Pizza-Hut pizza are sandwiched between ads for Diet Pepsi's new ad campaign of "brown and bubbly", forcing me to ask the question, are they peddling diarrhea? I sat comfortably reclined, watching as a 65 year old Mick Jagger pranced around the stage talking about satisfaction, I then again asked myself, has it all come to this? Is this what our forefather's had in mind when they founded this great country? Finding myself bored with the excess that has become our nation's passion, and thinking re-runs of "24" on WGN are better than this, I changed the channel. People, I honestly don't think I will be watching another Superbowl, because I find it all the same. One extremely long commercial. Did somebody say that there was a football game being played?
The one word that can define America's system of Capitalism is "more."
"Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall." Oliver Goldsmith
Now onto the funny pages. Or the not so funny pages. All depending on your point of view or religious preference. Something has come along that has begun to test the faith and common sense of all that view and react to it. A cartoon. Yes, that's right, a cartoon in extremely bad taste that features the prophet Muhammed with a Nuclear bomb wrapped up in his turban, has ignited a furious firestorm throughout the muslim world, resulting in violence and injuries and mob styled rampages against anything Danish or western for that matter. I for one am a firm believer in free speech and that one may be able to say pretty much anything that one may want except maybe "fire" in a crowded theater, began asking myself, if your faith is that strong, than how can a "cartoon" so deeply trouble it? I know I know I know, it was in bad taste, the cartoon that is, but so is violence in the reaction to it. I don't ever recall seeing the Jewish community storm the embassies around the Arab world when cartoons are depicting them as hooknoosed hobgoblins of greed and destruction. Oh, that's right, they have to stay in their little countries and nooks and cranies that will accept them. Because honestly, I don't think there is that much of a Jewish population in Saudi Arabia, but I may be wrong.  But people, it's a cartoon. That's all. We have to know, that with freedom of speech, some people may be offended. That is the balance. It isn't all roses.

Finally, the NSA Surveillance hearings. How fun it was to see our little toady of an Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales squirm and wriggle as he was trying to comment on why the Bush Administration didn't go to the FISA (Federal Information Surveillance Act) court for approval, when they so strongly believed they were right. So, if they so firmly believed they were right with their "illegal" wiretapps, it would surely be a slam dunk with FISA. One would think right? As Gonzales stated, "Once we received the authorization to use military force, we thought we could just go ahead and wiretapp" anyone we would care to.....but it has only and always been....."narrow in scope" and "narrowly tailored." This coming from the same people that have the power to hold anyone they consider an enemy combatant, for as long as they want, without charging them with anything, in a prison gulag in a foreign country, while listening to your phone calls, go to war on false pretenses and torture you as how they see fit for as long as they choose. These are the people that you shoud trust? This is Freedom. Sounds an awful lot like a Fascist Dictatorship to me. But as the real commander in chief, Dick Cheney states, "it's the new normalcy." So, If that's normal, I definitely want to be labeled a radical. Hello Nazi Germany...goodbye to the Constitution. Think about it.
Now get back in line, because it's for your own safety.
Do you hear me?
Now shut up and take the mark.
You've been warned.

Can I get a witness?

"All history moves toward one great goal, the manifestation of God." Ulysses, James Joyce

Let me begin by stating how nice it was to get a response from one of my many subscribers....albeit, trying to make me look like some kind of conspiracy theory nutter.....but I don't mind.  I am what I am. I will say this, and that is, it is nice to get some forward thinking out of some of you....come one, come all. Please, don't let me be the only one spouting the hot air. We have Congress and our Governor, "Mr. Pencil head Chris Collinsworth look-a-like" to do that.
As some of you may or may not have noticed, I have been running a little behind on my current events and slacking like so many of my fellow generation X'ers and I offer no apologies. Only a warning. This may be quite long due to the sensory overload, so it may take each and everyone of you, twice the reading, but hopefully twice the enjoyment. So, here goes.
First, the Newsweek article stating that the US interrogators desecrated the Quran in the May 9th issue was a mistake, not all truth. Which in turn, resulted in numerous riots throughout the Arab world and some deaths. Oops! sorry for the riots.....our bad.....and then good ol' Rummy stating that it was entirely Newsweek's fault for the riots......or maybe he forgot, our military might have something to do with it, but then again, was it okay for 19 Muslim Arabs, with a passing knowledge of how to fly and no knowledge whatsoever on how to land a plane, crash 4 of them and cause thousands of deaths, orchestrated possibly by Dick Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld and the rest of the Illuminati, half reptile blood sucking elite that is running and orchestrating an ever so present and not so tough to see push for a One World Government cashless society. That's okay.
But don't touch that holy book....that's where we draw the line.  Wake up people!!
Biometrics in the form of retinal scans, finger scans, will help get rid of the cash and will make it safe for each and every consumer, because then you won't have to share any of your information, no one can steal your identity.....which, if you haven't noticed is the fear that is being spoon fed by the media to our ever getting dumber public that laps it up like milk in a saucer for nice gentle playful kitty cats.  That's great, put everything into a central database, for our safety, perfect. Then some 18year old hacker living in Belgium, in his parents basement comes along, or worse, our own government eliminates all traces of your bank account. You wake up to have zilch, nada, zip, nothing. Get ready. Cause it's already here. A Cub, in Blaine, no less....where Anoka County's Technologically adept are embracing the finger scan like Sunday afternoon Nascar.
We will finally be the World that is financially and morally bankrupt. Excellent. Anyone need a loan?
Secondly, people, get ready, get the oil pipelines up and active in Iran, cause were coming, before they start selling the black gold, Texas tea in Euros, which could mean bye bye can guarantee it, and I mean soon. The US spread of Democracy is coming. The Middle East will be nothing more than a shopping mall in a dozen years.....mosques and shrines and temple mounts will be replaced with The Gap, Banana Republic, Starbucks, Monsanto, Shell Oil and General Motors, Coke and Pepsi....Mickey Mouse's face on the wailing wall. But, is that a bad thing? I mean look at those savages.....they don't have the nice toys that we do. How uncivilized.

Thirdly, with every major American Airline looming toward bankruptcy, how long till the Federal Government owns and controls the skies? I mean, they already are gearing up for Space.
Fourth, I will admit to a guilty pleasure to which I succumbed not too long ago. The Miss Universe Pageant.  Give me Latvia, Mexico, a Bud Light and a Clove cigarrette. Did anyone else notice that Miss USA was the heaviest by far? Coincidence, I think not.
Fifth, Indiana Pacers star forward Reggie Miller's last game where he shot the lights out, had me dreaming of a time when players had class, dignity, respect and gave it their all, despite the lure of higher contracts and more endorsements.....see Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn, Larry Bird, Hakeem the Dream.....hello free agency.....cause you have to feed your family right?
Sixth, go out and purchase, if you like the smell of burning leaves, the sight of crows on a fence and the feel of a cold beverage sliding down your throat, two CD's by...Ray Lamontagne and Rachel Yamagata....good stuff indeed.
Seventh, what a nice sight it was, to see France's NO vote to the EU Constitution which in turn derailed the Illuminati's effort for possibly the inevitable One World Government. Let's hold on to our country's sovereignty for a little while longer shall we. Oui Oui.
Eighth, the grim sight of Nightline's Memorial Day reading of the dead US service men and women since last year, in Iraq and Afghanistan.....1,000 and counting, brave men and women. God Bless.
Ninth, Deep Throat is just a classic porno movie now.
Tenth, which I will end with, because I can hardly stomach it...and which will be an upcoming poem, stand up comedy act from yours truly. Dying men and women, suffering unimaginable pain, now find it, thanks to the omnipotent wisdom if the Supreme Court, the Alcohol Industry and more than likely the Pharmaceutical Companies, will now be incarcerated for easing their pain with a funny smelling cigarrette. No longer smoked, the joint is where they will be sent.

The plane crash of humanity

Global Outrage of an Educated Man.......vol 10.
An original unfinished poem from Jack Scharber......
There is a wall being built in Gaza, and Pink Floyd
Is nowhere to be found.
Capitalism is sunflower skyscrapers opening up confrontational installations,
Global charcoal oil empires and naked corporations.
The international storage community
Has become mashed potato neighborhoods of retired inspiration.
In the clear blue sky,
You can see the plane crash of humanity.
Four score, white is the color
Of noticeable mistakes.
A rodeo boulevard orchestra of alternative landscapes.
We are the plastic paparazzi of an affordable Hollywood.
We are chanting, "Death to the Carbohydrate!"
We employ FOX TV babysitters.
We want the mayonnaise porcelain of
Honey turned lavender colored skin, and are now running
To the coddled summertimes of
Beach stampedes.
We pay four dollars a gallon for our SUV's.
Suburbia has become dry families with chandelier appetites,
Seafood mistresses, indian cowgirls and caviar cowboys,
Squatting to release mustard dijon shit.
We have a President from Texas.
We are skeptical spirits with happier gas,
Stand in line community surgeries.
We are the sheep shearing satire of lettuce cold audiences,
Artificially intelligent interactive chemistry.
We are the physically fit and mentally challenged.
We are perfect for a global slave trave.
All of the 65 inch flat screen HD-TV's, cellular picture phones, reality TV shows
Will not be able to put Man-kind back together again.
The next President of the United States of America
Will be the Anti-Christ, cause
God is a Communist.

"New car, caviar, sports car, daydream,
think I'll buy me a football team"  Money.....Floyd...from the album that should have come with a joint, Dark Side of the Moon.
Whew!, what a week. We had the coronation of a new Pope, Pope Benedict the XVI on April 19th, a little after 6pm Italian time.  The Pope who already looks as if he and KARE 11's Eric Perkins share the same lifestyle, the baggy eyes that kind of make you wonder what the hell does he do when he's not working?
We had the release from an all too profit hungry General Electric, who have just in time to make some more green backs for Spring, the authentic DVD. That's right, you can purchase all of those cherished memories you had of John Paul II, from NBC for only $19.95.
We had the awful reminders of Oklahoma City, Columbine and seemingly no one mentioned Waco...poor Koresh...was it all for naught....storing guns and ammunition in your compound, which of course was your legal right, but not paying taxes....come on David, you knew better than that.
I mean, money is what the government cares about....everyone knows that...cause you can file your taxes over the internet, but it is like pulling teeth trying to register to vote.
The conclusion, the government wants your money, not your opinion.
And of course we had 4/20. Insert bong here. Order pizza here. Light incense. Listen to Led Zeppelin. Drive a car 20 miles below the speed limit. As Peter Tosh said, "legalize it". It's being prescribed to treat MS, legally in alcohol being prescribed for anything? Cigarettes? Didn't think so.  Federal defecit, bye bye.
Sorry, kind of relapsed there for a moment....but I do mean what I say. I'm not just blowing smoke......puns!
Okay, I'll begin with the Democrats, circling around Tom DeLay like sharks in a ocean full of chum markers, dangling bloody seal jerky and hearing them yip and howl like hyenas in the desert being prodded with sharp sticks that haven't been fed since we had an honest can't blame me for being an optimist....can you?  Although, the man does want federal judges to be held accountable, just not himself.
And how quickly the major media and common citizens like ourselves are swept clear of the wreckage from the results of last November.
Does anyone remember a couple of guys named Kerry and Edwards?
From nowhere, they came to be Presidential and VP hopefuls and to nowhere did they go.
ADD anyone?
Makes me long for the song by Garth Brooks, "What she's doing now". And what the hell is Gary Condit doing these days? And will we ever find the person or persons or the Government responsible for the Anthrax scare that so conveniantly gave us the Patriot Act?
I'm sorry, that's all coincidence isn't it.
Next up, for a blurb of some importance, Japan and China seem to be at it again...and no they are not fighting over who should take out the wacko Kim Jong Il.
I do love the hair.
This time it's over textbooks, and what is in fact being left out of them by the ministry of Japan. Its a good thing Native Americans don't have a problem with ours....and Columbus said come on over for dinner and smallpox.....ooops.
Also, we now have an Intelligence Director, to head up all 15, money sucking from tax payers, who don't list their overrall budgets on paper because it is a matter of National Security agencies...John Negroponte.
Does anyone else other than myself want to get a job with the Bush Administration? "Look, Negroponte, bang up job with the intelligence on pre-war Iraq, how about taking care of all of the intelligence that we have....great".  "Wolfie, bang up job with handling the invasion of Iraq, not enough troops, no problem, how about taking care of the World Bank? great".
You suck=you're promoted....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Then again, Negroponte was sworn in 98-2 on Thursday, which proves that idiocy doesn't play partisan politics.
But don't get me started on the two party system scam....try one party. One great big party of WASPS, blood sucking, baby shaking, tongue wagging, head scratching misfits, holding out their hands for more money from lobbyists lobbyists lobbyists. Government of the people, for the people, my ass. Only if you make enough money.
Lastly, I will be the first one to admit, I'm like Clarese Starling, I think I spelled that right, in Silence of the Lambs. Not only am I somewhat attracted to the horrors of the workings of the US Government (Hannibal Lector) and what I can possibly learn from them and about them, I am also repulsed at the same time.
For I believe, that the only way a revolution today will succeed, is to be what I am. A cancer...and spread from the inside out.
Mr. Jack Scharber goes to who's with me?

"Standing next to a mountain,
chop it down, with the edge of my hand"  Jimi
First, I would like to give a big thanks to my brother, father of two, husband of one and friend to all with common sense, who contributed some mind blowing writing and raving of his own last week. Good stuff. Damn good stuff. I would and hope that each and every one of you, can and will at some time in then near future, add some work of your own. But, we are all busy. Now, on tho the business at hand.
The powers that be are on to me. They are tracking my every move. They are watching my every step. I am now beginning to feel like that lady, you know, that woman in that film, like that woman from the bus.
I am now on the grid and they are very happy. They like the fact that they can keep tabs on me now. Why all of the talk like this? Two Sundays ago, May 1st, I was visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Art and viewing the Illuminated St. John's Bible exhibit, when meandering through the corridors of art and high culture, I was aware that I was seemingly being followed. Followed by whom you may ask?
Myself, hoping it to be, early twenties hotties with long legs, flowing hair and intelligence to match their feminine beauty was some what let down to discover that is was, or who appeared to me to be, our one and only, former seat taker on the board of directors for the company that gave us the cancer inducing (in lab rats only they will tell you) used in every diet soda known to man, sweetner Aspartame. Give a big warm welcome to our "you go to war with the Army you have, not the Army you want" Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. I of course didn't find this hard to believe, being that only a few weeks prior, agents of the secret service visited a museum in Chicago to view and the works of some liberal artists that depicted our child of a president as a human shish ka-bob, placing the head on a pike. I know, I shouldn't get my hopes maybe, by these baby steps, we will be making some sort of progress of our own. But, it was not to be. Not today. No Rumsfeld. Only a middle aged bespectacaled man in a member's only jacket with a slight limp and a very unnerving stare.
Some of you out there may or may not remember that May 1st, was and is an important date in history. Not only was it the date of the beginning of the Bavarian Order of the Illuminati an off-shoot of FreeMasonry, which our founding fathers so fondly partook in, which was founded by  Adam Weishaupt on May 1st 1776.  A secret society order, steeped in double-speak and false-truths, much like the one that was founded and started by George W's great great great grand daddy at Yale University that still exists to this day, Skull & Bones. Which, matter of factly, George Sr belonged to and good ole W as well, and a certain Mr. Kerry as well....and who knows, maybe W's pick for US Ambassador to the UN as well, who went to Yale, Mr. Bolton. Because when you want to further the agenda of the New World Order and the push for a Global One World Government, who better to solicit the world governing body than a fellow member initiated in the ways of falseties and black magic. So, it would come as no surprise to this conspiracy theorist and searcher of the truth, that May 1st would be the day for our child Commander in Chief to land aboard an aircraft carrier and commit acts of double speak and utter false; Mission Accomplished. That's a relief.
For all of those out there saying to themselves, here he goes again. That'll do for now.
For something completely different and none the less, meaningful to many peoples lives, which in actuality, means almost less.  How about those Twins? The eyesore that is the Metrodome seems to be on its very last plastic legs and so the stadium that is only good for truck and tractor pulls, may finally be reduced to what the downtown Minneapolis area truly needs. More parking spaces. Now , if only the Twins can start to gain some ground on the trash talking, poor side of Chicago White Sox and once and for all make their homer television announcers shut the hell up. The only thing worse than listening to the two of them is perhaps, myself. But I digress and thank you all for the stomach shown to my writing thus far. To the 131st Kentucky Derby this past Saturday. Where with enough white skin and green money you can put on an ugly hat, some bad clothes, sip obnoxious liquers and watch athletes who take stereoids gallop at an extremely fast pace, go round a one and quarter mile long track in two minutes that takes about an hour and a half of pre-race to educate the only somewhat interested viewer, because they have seemingly nothing better to do than rake on an afternoon in early May. But hopefully, as the results of the race showed, the underdog will win in America, and people will Rip Van Winkle-like wake up out of their dream state of more more more more.
I strongly urge all of you to take 2 and half hours of your lives and view the documentary "The Corporation". Trust me. It is worth it.
Finally, two to meditate on. How did 19 Muslim Arabs, armed only with box cutters and a passing knowledge of how to fly planes, trick a trillion dollar defense system? Or did they just get lucky? And why didn't the Secret Service evacuate George W. on the morning of Sept. 11th when they and he finally learned of a second place hitting the Twin Towers, why did they let him sit there for another 7 minutes and then give a televised press conference from a school full of children, when would they have to believe that if they were under so-called attack from terrorists, have to assume that he himself would be a target? Just some thoughts. Thank you very much for your time.

"Killing in the name of" Rage Against the Machine
Once again I come to you from a local library where my chance to vent comes free of charge except for the price I pay in having my every keystroke traced by the federal government, with the help of my log-in user id.....but what is one going to do on such a minimum income.....purchase a new laptop and get wireless service? No way....that would cost money....and the temptations that would present know what I'm talking about. So, if for any reason, I ever disappear, vanish from scene without a trace....go talk to you know who....ask the Government whatever happened to your friend Jack?
As I sit here, I am thinking about the Abu Graib scandal and the Caligula like pornographic images seared into my brain. The ugly short haired possibly in-bred woman with a cigarette in her mouth, pointing with a smile on her man face towards Muslim genitalia...and hooded victims standing a top of wired batteries, tied to their fingertips. Makes me wonder, when are they going to be releasing a Sports Illustrated type calendar? A DVD behind the scenes making of sort of thing. In light of the horrific scene, afters months of extensive investigations, the powers that be, have found, that it is apparently the fault of only some late night MP's on duty, who thought it would be fun for a laugh to intimidate and threaten our prisoners of war, and in the mean time take some beautiful snapshots as well. Four superior officers, in charge of prison security operations inside Abu Graib, apparently had no responsibilities whatsoever, no punishment, Because, in today's Bush Administration led military justice, no one follows orders and there is no chain of command.
Alas, like the 9/11 commission's complete Tom Sawyer white wash cover-up of the facts , no one is at fault, because they were all at you can't punish them all.....except for the woman.....who caused Adam's downfall, the let's just leave the blame on her...we've been doing it since that snake presented a damn fine looking piece of fruit.

Just something everyone should know.....The neo-cons political strategy can be summed up in one sentence folks and here it is.......If you're against George W. Bush, then you're against God.

Sounds about right, doesn't it.

And lets all get down to Florida as soon as we can. Because low and behold, our current child of a President's little brother just passed a law allowing anyone who feels threatened, at any time or place to shoot the person or persons who is causing them to feel threatened.....NRA hallelujah!!! Shoot first, ask questions later.......shhh....what's that noise at the door, is it the wind, some reckless might be a burglar or some one playing a prank, better get the gun....or wait, there are some black men headed my way on the sidewalk, better pull the gun out, or wait I'm black and there are some white men headed my way, better pull the gun out.....or, that threatening person in their behemoth SUV just cut me off on the freeway, they are going to get it, right between the eyes.

Whatever happened to the Jesus that these right wing defenders of God so furvently believe there no New Testament anymore? I thought Florida was where the fight for right to life took place? Does anyone remember Terri Schiavo?

Mohatma, I am sincerely sorry.

And once again, a president promises more technological advances to ease the cost of gasoline prices. How many presidents is that now, every one we've had for the last thirty years....but so much does happen to advance technological breakthroughs and lessen our dependance on foreign oil.....sorry, my bad. Who runs the show?....Detroit and the Oil men. Guess how much money Exxon Mobil has been making in profit every minute, the first four months of this year......$60,000....every minute. Guess who's friends are all in the oil business....that's right G.W.  He's trying real hard to lessen our've got to believe's real hard work....catching terrorists.....Osama where are you? Come out come out wherever you are? Damn's just real hard work. Better tax the hell out of the middle class....someone has to pay for the beefed up military's fight on terror. Terror. Terror. Terror!! Scary stuff. Dick, can you leave the night light on for me?

And what about free Wi-Fi for every one in a urban dwelling. Sounds pretty nice don't it. But what exactly are the long term effects going to be? Or is it just a ploy to enforce one more step in a police state's way of global surveillance under the shroud of giving people what they want, or maybe another cause of cancer? Or maybe I just think too much? Or maybe everyone else doesn't think enough?

Questions questions questions...but here are some of my answers. Read Adbusters Magazine, just once. Watch the film JFK, just once. Visit just once. Watch the BBC news on PBS. Read more. Try to watch as little of the big 4 prime time television channels as possible...NBC, CBS, ABC, and especially FOX...yeah, were on to you Mr. Murdoch. Volunteer your time with a local charity, spend time with your children, and that doesn't mean setting them down in front of the the Bible, the Koran, study Buddhism, the Kabbalah, Hinduism, the Torah, any religion whatsoever, but just don't start a crusade and slaughter innocent people just because their religious viewpoints may be different then yours or the land they habitate is a good pipeline to Caspian Oil reserves....wait, were already doing that.....but it's's real hard work to be good, when it is so damn easy to be bad.  Until next time.....the revolution begins with a single scream.

Global Outrage of an Educated Man.....vol.3
"Baseball Ray, Baseball"

It is that time of year again. The leaves are going to be waking up to drops of rain, crying to be turned green. The arms stretching, the legs acheing and the opening of the cabins, after almost getting the fever from another winter. It is the rebirth of the seasons, the spring ahead and the eager anticipation of what is to come. It is the time of early evening, late afternoon strolls through the neighborhood, with the eminating smells of barbecues, the sounds of children laughing and the dogs barking at the passers-by. It is the ever burdensome chore of having to rake leaves after work, to mow the lawn again, to brush the salt from the curb into the street and to tolerate the ever changing mood swings of the weather. It is the time of traditions, stolen from the lines of CBS, "unlike any other".

For me and for the many countless mass of others, it is the hope that maybe this year will be the year that the Cubs will finally win a World Series....because hell, the end has to be near....if the Red Sox can do it, why not the Cubs? It is the breath that is being held to the hope that Joe Mauer's knees will hold out to produce what we as Twins fans know and fear, that maybe in the long run, we may have had Mark Prior....but then again, look what he's become the last year and a half.....and he may end up like another promising Donruss rookie; Gregg Jefferies or Ricky Jordan, and don't worry if some of you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, because, there are only a select few with the tolerance and patience and some sort of loss of common sense to care and love a sport that has been defined as our national pastime...and you know who you are.

A game without a time limit. A game that began with the soldiers of the Civil War, while in between battles of killing their fellow Americans, decided that they needed to unwind in a matter unbeloved by many, cherished by a multitude and tolerated by many a wife on a Saturday afternoon, and thanks to ESPN, Wednesday and Sunday night.  From the suicidal hard hitting, base stealing, quite possibly the greatest to ever play the game, racist recklessness of Ty Cobb, to the almost baffoonly brilliant vice gripped sultan of swat, who may have been the best pitcher as well for that era, our cherished Babe, to the graceful strides of Dimaggio, the barrier breaking of Robinson, the confidence and perfection of the swing of Ted Williams, the ability to track down fly balls with his back turned to the infield Mays, a left handed fireballer named Kofax, a green monster defender simply known as Yas, because his last name is too hard to spell, and a showman called our now present time of drug testing, lockouts, 70 homerun seasons and salaries that eclipse life saving doctors, courage embedded fireman and the never dying hope of teachers everywhere that despite their lack of salary still continue to do what is necessary. To the men and women who see that the solution is to not build more prisons....but maybe ballparks.

But despite all of its present drawbacks, it is still and only a pastime. A way to relieve the stresses of our growing ever so rapidly monotonous routine of the traffic jams of 9-5, Monday thru Friday for 30 to 40 years of our lives....that makes it all worthwhile and necessary. To toss peanuts under your seat at the stadium, spit sunflower seeds in the summer sun, to throw the lids of our recently purchased frosty malt cups, to holler at an umpire and players hundreds of feet away, and to discuss will Ichiro be the man to finally hit .400 again?  Where one doesn't have to be a 6-5 giant of 300lbs to be a success or 7ft tall, have a vertical leap of 45" or run a 4.2/40. All one has to do, is to do what is considered the most difficult thing in all of sport, and that is to hit a round ball coming towards you at 80-90mph with a round wooden bat, 60ft 6inches away. Now that's science....and that's what I call fun. The game that was and is our national pastime has a purpose. It is needed. It is America. Like the sport, we are not perfect, but we strive to be. So "friends, Romans, countrymen", lets play ball.

We are all Sunflowers

"Each and Everyone of Us"
First of all, good morning, good afternoon and good evening to each and everyone of my fellow citizens of Earth who strive with each day of their lives to create a more peaceful existence. To search endlessly for a decent and fair priced gallon of gas. To find a shorter line at a Subway sandwich shop.  For those of you who cannot any longer smoke in a bar, but can walk around in public with a loaded gun. A better tasting glass of tap water...for those who live in the metropolis, you know what I'm talking about. Flouride anyone? Did you know that we are the only country in the world still using that stuff....I mean it is one element away from being toxic.....brush your teeth 3 times a day or after every meal, and if you're the average overweight American, that's alot of brushing.  And finally, for those about to rock, I salute you. For my sake and for the sake of millions of others, don't drop the instruments, don't backslide into complacency and always strive for more. For each of you, I thank you. We all have a bigger part to play in the greatest rock band of
Secondly, I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to our fallen leader and Patriarch of one of the three major religions of humanity. JPII. The man who helped destroy the utopian Ism...on paper that is....of communism in his native Poland. A brilliant intelligent and humane man in a world that has slowly been going the way of refuse down the round and around course of life as we know it, a toilet. That is all I am going to say on that subject, because I, like so many of you, have seen and heard enough of that for one week....worthwhile yes...amazing yes....extraordinary turnout, of course....t.v. coverage overdone....maybe?
Thirdly, now my thoughts and opinions turn towards....who will be the next Pontiff....will it be an honorable man....a holy man...a man on a mission for world peace...or will it be....could it be...the mouth piece for what has been written...the Anti-Christ? Only time will tell, and not many of us will be able to, that is for certain.
But don't you get the feeling like the Powers that Be are prepping us for someone or something greater and stranger to occur? The best selling book in the last twenty to thirty years is a religious how to purpose? The Left Behind series sells like hot-cakes at an all you can eat buffet.
"Revelations"...Wednesday night on NBC, for God's sake....or maybe our own...who knows? Is it all playing out the way it supposed to? Or could this only be a self-fullfilling prophecy being perpetrated by a society of intellectually deprived lemings? Or could it be the most intricate and diabolical scams of all time? Imagine if you will, convince the world that there has to be a rise of a One World Government, and that a One World leader and his global police force have to take control for the return of JC to take place, but have it all turn out to be lies? I don't know...but I do money is on God...or Buddha or Mohammed or Krishna or Vishnu or whatever or whoever it is that seems to be in control of our lives from the moment the first star exploded into something...and before that there was nothing. So, whether you are a creationist or a may not like it, but you have that in common....because, before the big bang there was nothing, and before religion created us or we created religion, there was nothing...and now look at what we have....pretty awe inspiring, that is for sure.
Lastly, there is one more thing that I ask of, and that is, if anyone of you wants a topic for me to touch on, let me know, and I'll get my hamster inside my head to start running on his treadmill. I am not afraid to touch on any subject. So if you have opinions, any whatsoever....let me know....I would love to hear them...because I would like for this to be a forum and example of all that is good with man and woman let me have it. I can and will take whatever criticism anyone of you may have. Thank you for your time and patience....and may each and everyone of you beautiful people have a day and a smile a grand canyon wide.

The Global Outrage of an Educated Man.....vol.5
"The question in your nerves is lit, as you realize there is no answer fit, to satisfy, and show you not to quit, that it is not he or she, or them nor it, that you belong to" Dylan....It's alright Ma, I'm only bleeding
Let me begin this brand new issue by stating what a marvelous time I had, enjoying the many splendors of the annual tradition of Spring, the birds outside my window, an almost Disney cartoon effect, zippity doo dah, the greening of the grass of which you know, I was all too fond of, cough cough, the lines at the Lowry Avenue Dairy Queen getting longer with the rise of the temperature, and my pride at having hit two triples in two games, for a man who has John Kruk like speed and grace to the breathtaking beauty and serene calm of Augusta, Georgia and the Masters on a Sunday afternoon.  Not only was I able to witness the coming down from his lofty mountain of Tiger Woods, who, in his almost God-like reverence is seemingly capable of becoming human, if it were not for his shot on the 16th fringe to the green to bottom of the cup that paused long enough to think of Carl the greenskeeper in classic revered by men everywhere, Caddyshack, that along with Dimarco's hopes, threw the laws of physics out the window. While sitting on my favorite green couch and sipping on cold diet Dr. Peppers and cracking peanuts, facing the t.v. and watching the tournament, it came to me like a revelation, that despite all of the evils of the world and the wrongs which need to be right, it seems that if gentlemen play golf and bastards practice politics.
So, to follow up the heartbreak and heartache of Chris DiMarco's inability to knock Tiger off of his pedestal, with the exact same second shot on the 18th and again on the 18th in their playoff round, I thought it would only be fitting to watch a film that embraces heartache and contempt. I sat down to watch the film "Closer". Modern days dichotomy of love and need being confused for the same thing, and the resulting pain of which it causes when confronted honestly. Superbly acted and blunt. The film, days after its viewing has me, like so many who have come before, going over past relationships, and to those of you who have seen the film, can probably guess which character I am. It does reinforce the truth as well that we all deserve happiness, but that there are more ways than we can possibly imagine to achieve it. For, as Bob Dylan's grandmother would say to him, "Bobby, there is no road to happiness, happiness is the road".
Thirdly, the heartache keeps coming, like the bullets from a sub-machine gun, fired dead aim at the continually squeezed middle class doomed to be no more. The signing of the new Bankruptcy law is going to be put in effect as soon as our beloved president can figure out which end of the pen to use, and so begins the beginning of the fall from the cliff of the middle class to the wasteland of the lower class. Or maybe it is just survival of the fittest weeding out those who have made too many wrong decisions and now have to receive their punishment? But, I do know, that if you hold your eyes shut and press your ears to the wind, you can undoubtedly hear the cheering roar of credit-card companies, from as far as Bangladesh to Hackensack, New Jersey to the rolling tumbleweed deserts of Nevada. Bankers everywhere are doing the Phil Mickelson Toyota jump of excitement.
Lastly, as many of you know, I am quite technically challenged...with the motor skills of a three year old who has you wouldn't be suprised to know that this week while at my comfy 9-5 desk job giving high interest loans to people who can't afford them, my inability to shut off the speaker phone option of my telephone. Tapping away like a chimp in a small cage, I tried again and again, to figure out what would do the trick, and found myself, slowly getting angrier and angrier until I had to laugh at myself and look for the drool hanging from my chin. I did finally figure it out....I had to hang up the receiver. So, with that, and the night-life from Friday night confronted by the bloodshot eyes of Saturday morning's bathroom mirror, I bid you all adieu, until next time. Keep the fight alive....because the revolution will not be televised.
scenes from next weeks issue....the concern of a conclave.
